I'm trying to get Delphi Starter Edition to run on a laptop not connected to the internet. The default installation file I've downloaded is apparently the web installer which installs the core and then tries to connect to the internet to download additional files. Since I've installed it on a laptop NOT connected to the internet, it cannot connect to the server from where it wants to download additional files.
I was able to successfully load the license, but when you open Delphi it gets to a Choose Platform window which gives an "unable to contact server" error and when you cancel that and try to create a new project you only have the options for New Project Group and New Text File - nothing else.
I contacted Embarcadero online support twice, explaining in detail what the problem is on both occasions and that I need an offline installer to do an offline installation. The first time they gave me instructions how to active a license on an offline installation and the second response was that support for the Starter editions are limited to the Community Forum and Embarcadero online documentation - what a joke - they clearly don't even try to read what I'm asking and just reply with a standard copy-paste response - I am just in need of an offline installation (ISO) or similar to get the product properly installed - I'm not trying to code and need to ask a few questions...
Sorry for the rant, but it is scary if that is how the first line of support treats future clients.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
